In the Greek language there are 4 different types of love:

Eros - love that is sexual and romantic
Storge - love of family
Philios - love of friends and family
Agape - love that is pure, perfect and selfless

The love that is most commonly used in the New Testament is Agape. It is the love that is greater than Eros, Storge or Philios love. It is how God loves us.
