In 1961, Bob Camblin left his teaching position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to join the newly independent architecture department at the University of Detroit Mercy. There, he taught first-year design and drawing under the leadership of Bruno Leon, who had designed a home in Grosse Ile Township that the Camblin family accepted. During that year, Camblin also showcased his artwork in three exhibitions across Oklahoma, Florida, and Kansas. One of his pieces, "Termigan
Transfigured," was highlighted in the Southwestern College yearbook for its unique modern aesthetic. This period marked a significant transition in Camblin's career and artistic endeavors.
