In our previous discussion, we talked about the shifting tides in Syria and now it has unfolded: Assad has reportedly fallen and is said to be in Moscow. Syria is plunging deeper into turmoil, with Salafist militant forces consolidating power on one side, and factions backed by the United States exploiting resources like oil on the other. Meanwhile, Turkey and Israel have aligned themselves with these so-called Syrian rebels. Although Iran and Russia appear to be holding back for now, their involvement in this geopolitical struggle seems inevitable.
One clear benefactor in all this chaos is Israel. Sheikh Imran Hosein has often remarked that we are living in a time of unparalleled confusion an age where people sell their faith for trivial gains. The so-called Syrian rebels exemplify this betrayal, using religion as a facade while serving foreign interests. Despite outward displays of pietypraying toward Mecca and reciting the Quran—they betray their spiritual blindness, as the Quran itself warns about those who are "deaf, dumb, and blind" to the truth.
Taking advantage of the instability, Israel has intensified its airstrikes, decimating Syria’s defenses and solidifying control over the Golan Heights. Syria, now fragmented and vulnerable, stands little chance of regaining its former stature. Even the prospect of a genuine Sunni leader emerging to restore unity seems distant, given the widespread ideological infiltration by Wahhabi-Salafi extremism.
From an eschatological lens, this scenario eerily reflects Islamic prophecies about the rise of the Sufyani a figure of deceit and oppression who thrives in chaos by aligning with corrupt powers. Consider Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, the leader of the Syrian rebels. Once tied to extremist groups like Al-Qaeda, he now seeks to reinvent himself as a voice of moderation. But beneath this facade lies the same despotic ambition, destabilizing the region to further external agendas, particularly those benefiting Israel.
This aligns with prophetic warnings about the Sufyani’s role in exploiting divisions, particularly between Sunni and Shia Muslims, while disregarding other faith communities like Christians and Druze. The prophecies foretell his eventual confrontation with the Mahdi—a figure of justice and truth who will rise to dismantle this web of deceit and oppression.
Unfortunately, many Muslims are already falling for leaders in the mold of the Sufyani, dazzled by false narratives and manipulated by media spin. Social media amplifies this deception, with some glorifying figures like Jolani. It is not far-fetched to imagine that some may even begin proclaiming him as a savior or worse, the Mahdi himself especially as Western outlets paint him as a “hero” of Syria.
The tragedy lies in the broader failure of awareness within the Muslim world, where many are lured into these carefully orchestrated traps, only to later lament their oppression. As the chessboard of Middle Eastern geopolitics continues to shift, these developments remind us of the critical need for vigilance, spiritual clarity, and unity in the face of deception and tyranny
