Established in 1523, the Royal Guard has steadfastly protected the Swedish royal family, a duty that has been passed down through the centuries with unwavering dedication. The guard is divided into two main parts: the primary contingent stationed at Stockholm Palace, and a smaller detachment at Drottningholm Palace. This illustrious guard has seen the evolution of Sweden, from the days of Gustav Vasa, who formed the guard during the Swedish War of Liberation, to the present day, serving under King Carl XVI Gustaf.

Adorned in their distinctive uniforms, the Royal Guards are not just protectors but also a symbol of honor and ceremony. The Grenadier Company, with their iconic bearskin hats and white baldrics, carry the King’s own Life Company banner, a tradition dating back to 1868
