Did you used to download music in the late 90's, early 2000's?
I certainly did. I discovered file sharing/P2P while in grad school. I must of downloaded half the damn internet. But here's the thing, at no time did it feel like stealing. Our family business growing up was a small store, so I know stealing is bad. I never shoplifted anything, but I was totally cool with sitting home and downloading thousands of dollars worth of media and software, not anymore of course!😎 So this subject was personal to me.
Also, I have been the victim of piracy myself, my graffiti documentary (Bombing L.A., viewable here on YouTube ) has been heavily boot-legged, posted in it's entirety with out my consent, and the DVD copies I've sold to public libraries are consistently stolen!

Remember when the only virus you had to worry about was the one you would get from Kazaa? Meet "Betty" (not her real name), a college student avid music fan and file sharer. "Betty" paid a hefty price for downloading/sharing several MP3s in 2003/4. The RIAA began suing file shares in 2003, suing over 10,000 music fans.
