The New Mexico 4-Wheelers (NM4W), in partnership with the New Mexico Off-Highway Vehicle Alliance (NMOHVA), proudly announces the completion of a major improvement project at Johnson (Gordy’s) Hill—one of New Mexico’s most iconic OHV destinations.

Led by NM4W and supported by NMOHVA, the BLM Socorro Field Office, the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish OHV Program, and several community partners, this project brings 25 newly installed trailhead signs to the recently designated routes within the Johnson Hill Transportation & Recreation Management Plan.

These durable, information-rich trail markers provide:
• Trail names and BLM route numbers
• Difficulty ratings
• Vehicle and equipment recommendations
• Clear guidance to help visitors choose routes that match their skills and capabilities

By helping off-roaders make informed decisions, the new signage improves safety, enhances the user experience, and protects the surrounding environment by encouraging riders to stay on authorized trails.

This project builds on nearly two decades of stewardship by NM4W and NMOHVA, from early mapping and advocacy efforts to recent improvements like the multi-panel informational kiosk. Thanks to incredible volunteer labor and support from local organizations, this new wave of signage is now installed and ready for all visitors to enjoy.
