The inspiration behind this video:

Spider-Verse writer duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller attended the Spider-Verse FYC event on Dec. 10, 2023, and were joined by cast and crew, including Hailee Steinfeld, who plays Gwen Stacy, Luna Lauren Vélez (Rio Morales), and Across the Spider-Verse director Kemp Powers. Via an X post by film critic Jonathan Sim, Miller revealed that progress on the final installment of the trilogy is going well, and teased the ending with, “We’re in production…we’re really excited about where the story is going, and I think it’s a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, and it’s somehow even as emotional as the other ones…and it's gonna be exciting. We’re knee-deep in it.” Lord's own update included a wry, "It will be released in theaters."

With both Velez and Steinfeld being important characters in the movie series, it's little surprise that Miller glanced in their direction as he hinted at the satisfying conclusion. Nevertheless, fans also noted an apparent slip, where Miller said the conclusion was even more emotional than Across the Spider-Verse before correcting his statement. The last major Beyond the Spider-Verse update was that the threequel would take inspiration from Disney classics like The Parent Trap and The Prince and the Pauper, with the cast and crew otherwise sworn to silence. While the team has kept a lid on the plot details, with Shameik Moore reportedly the only person who knows the ending, the production side of Beyond the Spider-Verse was rocked by endless rumors before getting indefinitely delayed.
