Beginner Golf Tips - Why Shaft Lean Is So Important

One of the most important beginner golf tips you'll find is learning how to create proper shaft lean at impact like you'll see in this video. The reason this is so important is because it de-lofts the clubface and it's why golfers who look like they're not swinging very fast can hit the ball a mile.

Doing this takes loft off of the clubface and essentially turns a 6 iron into a 4 iron. Most beginners actually scoop at the ball and this causes you actually add loft. This essentially turns your 6 iron into an 8 iron, causes the ball to go higher and spin a lot.

The secret is understanding the entire sequence of the golf swing. The simplest way to to start to understand how to get proper shaft lean is to understand how the GOATS did it.
