*DIY* Lexus GX470 Nav To Non Nav Conversion

Описание к видео *DIY* Lexus GX470 Nav To Non Nav Conversion

Let’s start by saying this video is a little different for us. We picked up this GX for its off-road capabilities and the ability to take pups on camping adventures. The GX navigation is severe lacking and needed to go. After searching YouTube and the internet and only finding a small handful of people who’ve attempted this we wanted to showcase how simple it is. Too many people settling for this “Tesla” style android headunit and hating it. Here is your chance to chose your own headunit!

A hugely helpful resource can be found here:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/nav-...

Located within that thread you’ll find step by step instructions we used to iron out some details. The A/C controls are specific to the GX470 production date. It is crucial you follow these dates exactly or the A/C won’t work.

88650-60770 (11/2002 - 10/2004) There is reportedly an alternative for these dates 88650-60B50
88650-60771 (11/2004 - 7/2005)
88650-60772 (08/2005 - 12/2005)
88650-60773 (01/2006 - 07/2009)

Since our GX is a 2005 with a production date of 04/2005 we located a base model air control panel from a wrecking/salvage yard with the code 88650-60771. After disconnecting the three plugs in the passenger kick panel we plugged them in and tested the A/C. You have to listen for the compressor to kick on. Once you’ve tested everything you can begin the install.

The parts we used for this install were selected by preference. Any double din or single din with a Toyota pocket will work. With a long standing success with Metra and Alpine products we stuck to those but you can choose whatever you like. If you use Crutchfield as a resource like we did just choose your GX without NAV when prompted. Here are some of the parts we purchased for this project.

Metra 95-8166G (Dash kit for double din Non Nav
Metra 70-8114 (adaptor if your GX is equipped with an AUX)
Axxcess Integrate Tyto-01 (amp interface for Toyota 2001-2015) This was to integrate with the factory amp.
Axxcess Integrate ASWC-1 (steering wheel control adaptor)

Don’t forget your factory rearview camera will no longer work so if you like this feature you’ll need to purchase a new one compatible with your new headunit.

Lastly, this video is simply a guide an by no means a definitive step by step. We didn’t show where each screw, bolt, zip tie, tape bundle, and wire is located and we don’t plan to go into that sort of detail. Do your research and enjoy the process! Good luck.
