The Hebrew Word "Elohim" Does Not Reveal A Mystery Of Multiple Persons That Are One God In Essence

Описание к видео The Hebrew Word "Elohim" Does Not Reveal A Mystery Of Multiple Persons That Are One God In Essence

In this video we will learn why many scholars and theologians (including trinitarians) have rejected the idea that the Hebrew word "Elohim" supports the doctrine of the trinity, the belief that God is made up of multiple Persons that make up one God in purpose and essence. Upon deeper study of the Hebrew grammar associated with the One True God, Yahweh, being called Elohim (God), many have come to understand that the plural form of that title is an amplified noun that is referring to a plural of majesty, honor, and excellency. It actually conveys the fact that God is the greatest of all gods (He is the Elohim of elohim as in Deuteronomy 10:17). Whenever "Elohim" refers to the One True God, it is accompanied by singular verbs. When "elohim" refers to more than one false god, it is accompanied by plural verbs. If it were true that the Hebrew word "Elohim" was used for the purpose of indicating that the true God consists of multiple Persons, then plural verbs would have to be used when referring to God. In this video we will look at examples of how varied and complex the meaning is behind the word "elohim" throughout the Old Testament and when we understand that it is translated into the Greek New Testament, when referring to God (Elohim), it is translated into the singular word "Theos" not the plural word "Theoi." This sheds light on the singular understanding of the Hebrew word "Elohim" when referring to the One True God. We also have a powerful example in Exodus 7:1 where the LORD (Yahweh) told Moses He had made him a god (elohim) to Pharaoh. Now we know that Moses was only one single individual person and so what this is conveying in the Hebrew is the fact that the LORD made Moses very great in the eyes of Pharaoh.
