The Electoral Commission has dismissed reports that the recently concluded Hoima by-election was rigged in favour of the National Resistance Movement candidate. The claims were fronted by the opposition FDC party, after their candidate Asinansi Nyakato lost by 28,789 votes, behind NRM’s Harriet Businge, who polled 33,301 votes. However, the Commission’s Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama conceded that there were attempts to sneak in pre-ticked ballots, in favour of both candidates, and the culprits were arrested#NTVNews
