Its that time of year yet again to Mill and press our apple and pear crop to make hard cider - This video demonstrates How I make Hard Cider using Vigo Mill and a Hydropress which works off mains water pressure. Using these two bits of machinery enabled us to Mill and press nearly 500lb of apples and pears in around 3.5 hours. The weight of fruit is assumed by using a simple formula of 20lb fruit = 1 gallon of juice (approx). The juice yield was a bit down on last years, but this is what I predicted due to the dry weather and low rainfall this summer.
