China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), the largest comprehensive nuclear technology enterprise in China, was founded in 1955 and is headquartered in Beijing. As a major participant and contractor in China's nuclear power and nuclear energy sector, CNNC has strong comprehensive strength in nuclear power, nuclear fuel cycle utilisation, nuclear engineering and construction, nuclear technology application and nuclear technology equipment.

Development history of China's nuclear technology:

The history of China's nuclear technology development can be traced back to the late 1950s. At that time, facing multiple challenges such as tight energy supply and national security, the Chinese government decided to develop its own nuclear energy technology.

In the early 1970s, China initiated the construction of nuclear power plants, and in 1991 the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant was built for the first time, marking China as the first country in Asia to have a commercial nuclear power plant. Since then, the construction of nuclear power plants in China has been accelerating, and the installed nuclear power capacity has continued to grow. Up to now, CNNC has constructed a number of nuclear power plants, including Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant and Zhejiang Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant, which have provided China with a stable and low-carbon power supply.

In addition, China has made significant breakthroughs in nuclear fuel recycling. China has independently researched and developed the "Hualong-1" nuclear power technology, and built China's first commercial fast neutron reactor, realising independent nuclear fuel recycling. In addition, China has achieved fruitful results in the application of nuclear technology, including in the fields of radiological medicine, industrial non-destructive testing, environmental protection and food irradiation.

The development of nuclear technology in China has benefited from the government's long-standing attention and strong support, as well as the efforts and innovations of CNNC and other enterprises.
