2022 KIA Stinger GTS Review Beating The Germans At Their Own Game?

When Kia announced to the world that it was to build a performance saloon you could also hear German laughter echoing across the globe. After all they are kings of that genre, so to even try would seem foolish.

That’s exactly what the South Korean brand did, though, with this, the Stinger GTS. It’s actually been out for a few years now, but there’s a chance some of you watching have never seen this car at all, let alone in real life. When it comes to the looks department, I’d argue Kia has that nailed down. It’s a very sleek body yet with enough muscle to hint at the performance underneath. I’d argue the fake vents ruin the look a bit, but let’s look past them, shall we?

The power department is also pretty well sorted as well – under the bonnet you’ll find a turbocharged 3.3 litre V6 petrol. 366hp is on tap, along with 510Nm of torque. That means 60mph in 4.7 seconds – the fastest accelerating car Kia sells in Europe - and a top speed of 167. Hmm, seems as if those German laughs have died down.

With this being a Kia, one of the advantages of choosing the Stinger GTS over a German rival is a lower price, and better value. The starting price is £45,160 and there is a lot as standard. So let me take a deep breath and fire the list at you. Are you ready, here we go! LED lights, keyless entry, 19” alloys, sunroof, nappa leather seats, heated and ventilated electronically adjustable front seats, electronically adjustable steering wheel, heated steering wheel, heated outer rear seats, Harmon Kardon sound system, dual zone climate control, power tailgate, adaptive cruise control, adparive dampers, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, 360 around view monitor, 10.25” touchscreen, navigation, DAB radio, Bluetooth, smartphone connectivity, wireless phone charger, and a strong host of safety systems. Has anyone got a spare oxygen tank?
