Описание к видео Wild-Walking Lochearnhead - Crianlarich

Whilst training for the Cape Wrath Trail early last year, when I tried to incorporate plenty of "wild walking" rather than just blazing along established paths, it dawned on me just how much more there is to explore, and how much more freedom there can be had by not limiting oneself to what is obvious or listed in guidebooks. Even hills I've been up more than say ten times, if ascended by a different ridge or just past by whilst walking in a glen or corrie below its summit, I've found that these places have a completely different feel. Anyway - that's how this idea of walking from Loch Earn to Crianlarich was born. The map shows there's plenty open space away from roads and carparks to cross on such a journey, and some of it I'd yet to see. In Scotland we don't need to travel far from civilisation to get the same wonderful experience and scenery that draws many to the CWT. The route I took in this video was under 19 miles, finished at a pub, took in 1 unlisted summit and crossed between Ben More and Stob Binnein, both dominating the vista for much of the day. I got a lift back from my ever-supportive dad (who would be with me every step if he still could). Perhaps I could have wild-camped and made a weekend of it and walked back, but truth is I reckon I'm currently dependent on civilisation as much as I like getting away from it! There is public transport at either end if needed (C60 bus links with Stirling and train/bus at Crianlarich).
