Equity benchmarks traded lower on Monday, pressured by losses in heavyweight financial and IT stocks. Notable losers on the Nifty included Titan Company, BPCL, JSW Steel, UltraTech Cement, and Tech Mahindra. On the sectoral front, all indices except realty, PSU Bank, and media traded in the red, with the metal and oil & gas indices down 1% each. However, BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices managed to stay positive. Market action saw 279 stocks hitting 52-week highs, while 18 hit 52-week lows, reflecting notable stock-specific volatility. Dr Reddy’s led the gainers, rising 1.41%, while Titan Company tumbled 2.10%, making it the top loser.
