दीया कुमारी (Dia Kumari )की शादी अगस्त 1997 में हुई थी। शादी के साथ ही एक विवाद भी शुरू हुआ। उन्होंने नरेंद्र सिंह(Narendra Singh) से प्रेम विवाह किया था। विवाद इसलिए हुआ कि दोनों एक ही गोत्र के थे। इसे लेकर राजपूत समाज में आक्रोश भी नजर आया। सगोत्री शादी को लेकर खिलाफत भी शुरू हुई, लेकिन वे अपने निर्णय पर अडिग रहीं। दीया ने अपनी लव स्टोरी को लेकर एक ब्लॉग लिखा था, जिसमें उन्होंने नरेंद्र सिंह(Narendra Singh) के साथ अपने अफेयर की सारी जानकारी शेयर की थी। दीया ने इसमें इस बात का जिक्र किया कि कैसे उनके पति नरेंद्र सिंह से पहली मुलाकात हुई थी। नरेंद्र से जब वह मिली थीं तो उनकी उम्र महज 18 साल थी।
