Episode 49 - How to Fix an Exhaust Leak - Tiger Patch Muffler Tape


Today, we will be talking about something near and dear to my heart...plugging holes. Sadly, in this video, we will not be plugging the fun kind. But the obnoxious kind where you have a hole in your exhaust pipe.

I recently purchased a used replacement muffler for my 2009 Jeep Wrangler because my old one was super rusty! I went to a junk yard and found a better one for only $10 bucks!

Unfortunately, the replacement muffler was a pain to try and slip over my exhaust pipe. So I was left with a hole in my exhaust causing an exhaust leak.

I found this stuff on Amazon called Tiger Patch Muffler Tape and it claims you can plug exhaust leaks or holes with it. It is no more than a sticky double sided tape. You get about four feet of it per box and it is only $6-7 dollars.

Installation was a breeze. Only took about five minutes and after the tape is installed, the heat from the exhaust actually causes the tape to permanently seal onto the exhaust.

From my initial testing, it works! The nasty sound that was coming from my exhaust is not anymore.

We will see how long this stuff lasts but it states to have a long life. On the box it reads, "will outlast the life of your exhaust or muffler"

So I have confidence this stuff was a cheap and effective cure for my leaky exhaust!
