MultiChoice, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, has reverted to its former subscription prices following a court ruling. The company plans to challenge the court order, arguing that it does not align with its business model. However, a recent check on the company's apps confirmed the reversion to old prices pending the outcome of its appeal.
The court order, issued by the Competition Consumer Tribunal (CCT), mandated MultiChoice to halt its proposed price hikes. As a result, subscribers who paid the increased rates for May 2024 are now seeing a return to the old pricing structure.
MultiChoice reported a significant decline in its subscriber base in Nigeria, losing over a million subscribers, partly due to the price hikes.

It remains unclear whether MultiChoice is offering a free month's subscription as ordered by the court. MultiChoice officials have yet to comment on this development.
The company had initially increased its subscription prices to reflect market realities, including high inflation and the devaluation of the naira in Nigeria. However, the court's intervention has temporarily halted these adjustments, bringing relief to subscribers for the time being.
