Don's recording career started in 1949. Although his first records were not commercially successful he had discovered an ability for song writing.
By 1956 he had composed and recorded this largely forgotten original version of 'Sweet Dreams' which reached the top ten on the US chart. More self-penned hits followed including 'I Can't Stop Loving You' and 'Oh Lonesome Me', then in 1961 he recorded a revised version of 'Sweet Dreams' which was equally as popular as the first but which eventually became the most remembered of the two.
This track played here on UK issue 78rpm MGM 909.
