Popular pet food recalled after house cat dies from bird flu

The manufacturer of a popular pet food brand has issued a recall of its cat food for contamination with bird flu, according to the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA).

The WSDA said Morasch Meats is recalling its Northwest Naturals 2lb Feline Turkey Recipe raw and frozen food after tests confirmed a contamination with the H5N1 strain of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).

KOMO sat down with Washington State veterinarian Dr. Amber Itle to talk about how pet owners can keep their cats and other furry friends safe from the bird flu.
