West Somerset Railway | Spring Steam Gala 2022

A last minute decision to head out for the West Somerset Railway’s Spring Steam Gala, this would originally be a bit too far for my liking but seen as it was 2857’s, which is my favourite locomotive of all time, final gala I thought I’d make the effort to head out, so Saturday the 7th May, I did just that! Having two galas literally days in between eachother, 2857 was a last minute decision to replace 9466 which had failed at Minehead last week, 2857 was already on the back of a low loader and ready to head home, only via the West Somerset Railway! It was so nice to see some of the locos from home down by the coast, the other locomotive from the SVR being 75069. I thoroughly enjoyed my day out, and the weather made everything so much better! Thank you to the West Somerset Railway for letting it happen, and also the Severn Valley Railway and the 2857 Society for allowing it to come down, for one final gala before overhaul in July, It will be a great shame to see her bow out of service. I really hope you enjoy this video, we’ve gone above our limits for this one and it’ll be a rare opportunity that we get to head out on long distances, lucky for you is we aim to get a few more long distance railways in during the year!
