Around 11 schools in Jalandhar received b0mb thre@t emails on Monday morning. Following the receipt of the threatening emails at around 9:10 am, school authorities informed the police and sent messages to parents asking them to pick up their children as a precautionary measure. Soon after, police officials and anti-sabotage teams reached the school premises and conducted thorough searches.

The incident in Jalandhar came just days after 15 schools in Amritsar received similar bomb threat emails on December 12. After extensive searches, no suspicious material was found in those schools. Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar later confirmed that the thre@t emails were fake.

Meanwhile, security experts have raised concerns over the nature of such thre@ts. Punjab witnessed nearly two decades of milit@ncy between 1980 and 1996, yet schools were never directly targeted by Kh@listan-linked terr0r outfits during that period.

Speaking to True Scoop, Sardar Iqbal Singh Lalpura — an expert on militancy who served in intelligence roles during Operation Blue Star and Operation Black Thunder, and is currently a member of the BJP Parliamentary Board and Chairman of the National Minority Commission — said that even during the worst phase of terr0rism, schools were not chosen as targets.

“Colleges and other institutions did witness some incidents, but children were never targeted. At that time, thre@ts were usually sent through letters, as email communication did not exist. What we are seeing today is a completely new and disturbing pattern that needs thorough investigation,” Lalpura said.

A former Director General of Police (DGP) echoed similar concerns, stating that during the Kh@listan-related terr0rism era, terr0r outfits did not target women or children, nor did they threaten schools. He noted that while some viol*nt incidents did occur, the current trend of targeting schools through emails marks a worrying shift.

However, some experts believe that the emails may be fake.
