I WAS THERE when Mookie Betts got ASSAULTED at Yankee Stadium (2024 World Series Game 4)

This was my 17th World Series game at 8 different stadiums (!!) and I wanna say "I can't believe this happened," but let's be real -- at Yankee Stadium this type of behavior is practically encouraged. The fans involved in this horrific display of douchebaggery weren't even gonna be punished by the Yankees until MLB got involved and THEN the Yankees banned them, not for life but merely from the following game. [insert the biggest facepalm emoji] So yeah, visiting players (and fans!) beware! Yankee Stadium will show you no mercy.

Thankfully this day had much more to offer than the Mookie Betts incident. I arrived at the stadium FIVE HOURS before first pitch, hustled around during batting practice and pre-game warmups, snagged a few baseballs, soaked in all the hype, and settled into some great outfield seats for the game itself. Unfortunately Freddie Freeman's home run in his SIXTH consecutive World Series game landed on the wrong side of the stadium, but I was thrilled just to witness it in person. That said, I came frustratingly close to Anthony Volpe's grand slam, and it made me wonder what's worse: (1) not being close at all or (2) being so close that you feel taunted by the universe. And of course it was great to see Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, and Juan Soto doing their thing as well.
