Hey guys, my name is Austin Gregory, and in this course, I'm going to teach you how to create a pretty cool turn-based battle system in Unity. The system is very generic. It's going to allow you to drop it into any game pretty much as long as you obey the battle requirements of what kind of enemies they need or what kind of party members they need. And for this example that we're setting up, we're going to actually launch the battle from a button, but in the future, we're going to set it up so that we can actually launch the battle from the game. Say we're walking around and we get near an enemy, a dragon, it'll launch a battle with that dragon. But as an example, I have Launch Battle here. It's gonna set it up with a couple of dragons and a demon and a few party members. But in the future, you would have your party members set up before this and then you would have whatever enemies that you want to battle in your game.

So I'm gonna click Launch Battle and this is what we have. Now it's not too pretty. It's not the point of the course. The course is designed to show you how to create the systems, the data structure. It's all kind of complex, but we take a very simple approach to it. So it's my turn. And what I can do is I can cast a spell. So I'm the archer guy here. I have Arrow Rain and I want it to cast it on the demon. There we go. And it's my next guy's turn and I can cast Fireball on the demon. Notice the kind of sweet little particle effect. I'm gonna cover that as well. And also attack the demon with my other wizard guy. Now it's their turn. And they go through each turn. They either cast a spell or they do a normal attack or they'll do a healing spell on one of their own enemies there. And then it's my turn again. So I can also just click Attack and attack the demon straight on. And I can again, I can heal one of my guys here. So I can say heal this guy. And now Clough's HP went back up. Running low on mana points though. So I can do a normal attack again on this guy. And then it's their turn to go.

It's just the whole system for a basic little turn-based battle system. Again Arrow Rain on this guy. Fireball on that guy. And you get the point. So we're gonna cover how to make this in this course. We're gonna go from nothing to this throughout this course and then later on, we're going to actually take this and apply it in a 2D game, where you can walk around in the world and then encounter an enemy and it will launch a battle, just like you see here, with the enemies that you encountered and your set-up party members. Pretty cool. So my name is Austin and I will see you in the first lesson.
