Throughout the Cold War, many countries possessed a huge network of spies that were intent on gaining intelligence or information from another country. Some of these spies were defectors from other countries, some however simply were intent on betraying their country for a large sum of money.

In the early 1960s, Britain was gripped by a huge scandal. A mysterious leak had occured from a Naval Base in Portland, Dorset. In this leak, important documents regarding Britain's developments of Nuclear Submarines were being leaked to the Soviet Union, or the KGB. The case of the Portland Spy Ring captivated and angered the nation, however today it is largely forgotten about.
