Lympne Castle is a medieval castle located in the village of Lympne, above the Romney Marsh in Kent.

Originally built on the site of Lympne Abbey in the 1080's and near to the former Roman fort of Portus Lemanis (the remains of which can be seen today)
The castle was rebuilt in the 1360's and expanded. This work included a tower at each end of the castle.
Further additions were made in the 15th & 19th Centuries, the last being in 1907 & 1911-1912.

The property was the residence of the Archdeacon of Canterbury until 1860, it was then used as a farmhouse and by the 1900's was in disreapair.
The property was purchsed in 1906. The restoration of its medieval aspects were complemented by the addition of a West Wing. The east Wing was added in 1918.
By the end of WWII, the castle was in poor condition, having been used by the army during the war. in 1945, a series of restorations & modifications were made.

in September 1978, Paul McCartneys's Wings recorded sessions at the castle. for their 1979 album 'Back to the Egg'

Today the castle looks stunning in its surroundings and is used, among other things as a wedding and events venue.

Situated in around 139 acres of beautiful countryside & overlooking the English Channel, the site truly is beautifully well kept.
