Eye Surgery for Retinal Detachment
Eye surgery is necessary to repair a detached retina of the eye in order to prevent total blindness. A serious and urgent condition, retinal detachment sometimes presents with no warning, however usually there are retinal tear "warning" symptoms of flashes and floaters. Sometimes the retina may tear and even detach because of a hard force upon the eye, but there may be other causes such as a thin or weak retina, myopia, tissue build up, or disease-causing inflammation that pulls on the retina. If you have retinal detachment in one eye, you have a greater chance of developing it in the other eye.

An Urgent Surgery with a High Success Rate
Surgical repair for retinal detachment is the only way to restore vision to the eye, however it is imperative to act quickly once the detached retina is diagnosed. Without treatment, vision loss can progress from minor to severe—even blindness, within a few hours or days. The goals of surgery are to reattach the retina, and to prevent or reverse vision loss.
