The III InterGen has as its central theme “Artificial Intelligence in Plant Breeding: new approaches to the challenges of climate change”. The event will take place on the 27th, 28th, and 29th of September 2022.
This event, the third in partnership with the Corteva Agriscience Company, is an opportunity for professionals, experts, and students to discuss how advances in Artificial Intelligence have contributed to studies and advances in the field of Genetics and Plant Breeding, as well as to mitigate the effects of climate change.
In this sense, the topic is extremely important, since it integrates different approaches such as phenotyping, genotyping, and machine learning, with the objective of contributing to the interpretation of data for decision-making in the face of rapid environmental changes.

I. Research profile and interest
Understanding of the genetic basis/architecture of key traits in breeding in elite germplasm and collections of genetic resources.
Deploy genomics-assisted breeding approaches to increase genetic gains in wheat improvement. Classical approaches such as marker-assisted selection and marker-assisted backcrossing, newer approaches such as genomic selection or both combined.
Testing new proof-of concept breeding approaches in the area of pre-breeding.
Genetic diversity and variety identification
International collaboration

II. Professional Preparation
M.S. Agriculture Biology, University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany, 2000.
Comparative fine mapping of the Scm1 and Scm2 regions on Chromosome 6 and 3 in two populations of European maize (Prof. Dr. T. Luebberstedt and Prof. Dr. A.E. Melchinger)
Ph.D. Plant breeding and Genetics, University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany, 2004.
Genetic diversity in elite lines and landraces of CIMMYT spring bread wheat and hybrid performance of crosses among elite germplasm (Prof. Dr. A. E. Melchinger and Dr. M. Warburton)
