Mini Doc : Jerash, Jordan The city of a thousand columns

Описание к видео Mini Doc : Jerash, Jordan The city of a thousand columns

A closer look at the ancient ruins of Jerash in Jordan. What lies beneath the surface of this once great city? I was fortunate enough to visit this amazing historical site in 2019. The thing that stuck out most to me was that there might be even older ruins underground. Using Google Earth imagery as well as the original footage i shot, we explore the abandoned city. You will be shocked by the sheer number of columns still standing after at least 2,500 years.
Not only is the architecture mind blowing, but the documented history behind Jerash is equally baffling. Who built it? Greeks? Romans? A lost civilization?
An interesting part of Jerash's history is the connection between a former ruler and Jesus Christ. This former ruler would supposedly marry Mary Magdalene's sister, becoming Jesus's brother-in-law, and hid and protected a mysterious treasure in the Temple of Zeus.
All that remains today is rubble and fragmented architecture, supposedly from centuries of war and natural disasters. I hope you enjoy this fresh perspective on one of the grandest cities of the Decapolis.

Cities of the Decapolis :
Canatha in Syria
Capitolias in Jordan
Damascus, in Syria
Gadara in Jordan
Gerasa (Jerash) in Jordan
Hippos in Israel
Pella in Jordan
Philadelphia (modern day Amman) in Jordan
Raphana, in Jordan
Scythopolis in Israel

Thanks for watching !
