Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has revealed the secret to his exceptional form at Serie A leaders Atalanta BC.

In a chat with Micah Richards, fresh from being named Man of the Match against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), Lookman shared his excitement.

The 27-year-old shone once again as he delivered a remarkable performance in a thrilling five-goal encounter against the reigning champions on Tuesday night, adding another fine display to his tally.

Ademola Lookman scored his 11th goal of the season, and his third in five Champions League games this year, in a narrow 2-3 home defeat in Bergamo against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

His superb goal, scored in the 65th minute, revived Atalanta’s hopes of securing a result with 25 minutes remaining, but it ultimately served as little consolation.

After the match, Lookman, who finished 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or and remains the hot favourite to win African Player of the Year, spoke to CBS Sports’ Micah Richards about the secret behind his brilliant form this season.

Lookman’s response.

“I mean, it’s timing,” the Nigerian forward said when asked by Micah Richards why he’s playing the best football of his career.

“I think over the last two and a half years I’ve managed to get some consistency in my game. It’s naturally integrated into my style of play, allowing me to improve and express it on the pitch. And of course, it also comes from the circumstances,” he added.

In his performance against Real Madrid, Ademola Lookman posted impressive statistics: 88% pass completion, two chances created, two key passes and three shots. He also completed three dribbles, two recoveries and 10 touches in the opposition box, efforts that earned him the man of the match award.

The goal against Real was his second in two games, having also scored the decisive goal in a thrilling clash against AC Milan the previous weekend, a victory that allowed Atalanta to take the lead in Serie A before crossing paths with Los Blancos.
