The pink lotion has ingredients that shrink swelling and offer the best support you can give such a severe injury! I ice the crap out of the injury immediately, then run the cast. Make sure to put a Standing Bandage on the other leg while the horse is lame. The cast hardens and can be left on for 3-4 days at a time until the injury is cold and tight again. That can take several weeks sometimes. After that I would keep a standing bandage on until the horse adjusts to not having the support of the cast.
