Pitching for Professionals - Michele Hutchison

Описание к видео Pitching for Professionals - Michele Hutchison

Translators are often the first in the chain to come across interesting new books in their source language, or rediscover forgotten classics, and to realize there might be a market for them in their target language. But where do you go from there? What do editors and agents really want to know/hear? How do we convince them? This talk will cover the main points about producing both a perfect short (‘elevator’) pitch for IRL conversations and a longer written pitch.

As a rights manager, Michele Hutchison spent several years pitching titles for foreign rights, film/ TV and theatre purposes. She also spent more than a decade pitching books internally as an editor before she became a full-time translator.

This talk as recorded as part of the 2023 BCLT Summer School programme.
