Описание к видео A Letter to My Teenage Heart

This poem is a heartfelt conversation between my present self and my teenage self — a gentle, emotional journey through the lessons life taught me the hard way. It speaks of young love, heartbreak, wrong decisions, drinking, regret, and the long road back to healing. It is also a tribute to the love and protection of parents, the dangers we ignored, and the wisdom we only understand when we grow up.

Through rhyme and soft truth, this poem reminds every teenager — and every adult who once was one — that choices shape destinies, “coolness” fades, but kindness, respect, and values remain. It is a message to listen to your inner voice, choose partners wisely, guard your peace, avoid destructive habits, and cherish your parents who shield you from the world’s cruelty.

Most importantly…
This poem is a hand reaching across time, guiding the younger self back before she is far from home.

A Letter to My Teenage Heart — In Rhyme

Hey little me,
I’ve crossed the years
To whisper truths
Through grown-up tears.
I’ve come to talk
Of the roads you’ll roam,
And guide you back
Before you’re far from home.

Yes—your crush, the one you dream about,
The one whose name you can’t say out loud…
You’ll marry him someday, full of delight,
Thinking love begins in sparks and sight.
But hearts can shatter in pretty hands,
And you’ll learn what true love understands:
Don’t choose a partner because they seem cool;
Choose someone kind—your lifelong jewel.

That drink you try
Just to “see how it feels,”
The laughter, the dares,
The teenage thrills—
They come back later
As silent pain,
Hard to quit,
Hard to stay sane.
What starts as a sip,
A moment of fun,
Becomes a storm
You cannot outrun.

Life feels heavy
With no one beside,
No map, no torch,
No steady guide.
I wish you’d known
How lost we’d be,
Walking alone
Through a painful sea.

And Mom…
Oh, I wish I had been kind,
Spoken softer,
Made up my mind
To honour the love
She wrapped around me—
A love too deep
For you to see.
I wish I’d smiled
Instead of cried,
I wish I could’ve
Been her pride.

Dad’s warnings—the ones we three ignored,
Rolling eyes and saying, “Oh God, he’s bored”—
Were not to cage you, not to control;
He was protecting your tender soul.
The dangers he saw
Were cruel and true,
And every “no”
Was a shield for you.

Mom forgave me
For every fight,
Every harsh word,
Every restless night.
And now as a mom,
My heart breaks through—
For all the storms
I pushed her into.
I carry her grace
In the tears I’ve cried,
And I wish I could reach her
Across that tide.

And those friends who said
“Lying is cool,”
Who made rebellion
A shining rule—
Some lost their path,
Some lost their way,
Some lost their freedom
To bars one day.

It’s okay to have a crush-filled heart,
To write sweet names,
To fall apart.
But when you choose
Your lifelong mate,
Pick steady love,
Not dazzling fate.
Looks fade fast,
Trends slip and fall,
But character—
Character outlasts them all.

So hear me now
Across the years,
Across the fears,
Across the tears:

Trust your voice—it's wiser than noise.

Not every smile is a friend to rejoice.

Not every scolding is meant to control;
Some guard your spirit, your dreams, your soul.

Don’t give your life to a moment’s thrill;
Not every dare deserves your will.

Protect your dignity, guard your grace—
This world is rough; stay in your place.

Say no firmly, even if you shake;
Broken boundaries are tough to remake.

Enjoy your youth,
But don’t lose your way;
Don’t chase the night
At the cost of day.
Don’t hurt Mom and Dad—
They’re your only shield
In a world that won’t
Let softness yield.

So little me, across the years I’ve come,
With every scar and every lesson won,
To light your path through storms you’ll roam—
To hold your hand, remind you you’re strong,
And to guide you back
before you are far from home.
