The Indian Air Force and the United States Air Force have begun a joint exercise called Cope India 23. The world’s two largest democracies are teaming up with an on China.
The Indian Air Force and the United States Air Force have commenced a joint military exercise, named Cope India 23. The objective of the exercise is to improve the interoperability and combat readiness of the two air forces. The exercise is being held at Kalaikunda Air Force Station in West Bengal, India, and is scheduled to conclude on April 24.
During the exercise, various aircraft from both countries, such as the B1 Bomber & F-15 fighter jets from the US and the Su-30MKI, Rafale, and Tejas fighter jets from India, will participate in a range of tactical drills, including air-to-air combat, air-to-ground missions, and simulated attacks on enemy targets.
Cope India is a regular exercise that has taken place multiple times over the past decade. In 2019, the last iteration, Cope India 19, was held and involved more than 270 airmen from both countries. The current exercise comes at a time of increasing strategic cooperation between the US and India, as they aim to counter the growing military influence of China in the region.
