How To Fit A Drawer Front (A perfect fit)

Описание к видео How To Fit A Drawer Front (A perfect fit)

In this Drawer Making Episode 28, Rob Cosman shows you how to fit a drawer front into a drawer opening and get a perfect fit. Rob is finishing up the process of fitting a handmade dovetail drawer into a standing office desk that he started in Drawer Making Episode 27. He meticulously fits the drawer front, slowly removing material with his hand and block plane until he achieves a perfect fit and is prepared for the next step of this project.

Rob begins this video with comparison of four different cabinet door styles: 1) a saddle joint framed door, 2) a splined miter joint framed door, 3) a traditional frame and panel door, and 4) a frame and panel door with a through wedge tenon.

Next Rob uses a suggestion from a viewer's comment to make a quick and easy temporary knob that helps with fitting the drawer front into its opening.

Finally, Rob shows you step-by-step his method for fitting the front of a drawer to the drawer opening and finishes with a perfect fit. You will be amazed at the detailed precision Rob achieves with just a hand plane and a block plane.
