Rarely has a new board generated this much excitement at Boardshop HQ, we're stoked to bring you a global first, the Pyzel Crisis Twin surfboard, a take down of Pyzel's Mid , the Mid Length Crisis.

The inspiration came from one of the team here who had been hunting for a round tail twinny but couldn't find exactly what they wanted, after a few chats with those in the know the Crisis Twin was conceived.

If you want a board that is fast and super smooth but loose enough to get it moving from rail to rail this bad boy ticks all the boxes. It's also a cracking paddler, this board features a beak nose to smuggle a little extra volume up front without thickening up the rails which would limit performance. You'll see a jump in your wave count when comparing to a standard shortboard but unlike lots of twins it doesn't just go in a straight line fast, turns are precise and the curvy outline gives it a lively responsive feel. There is a strong double concave running almost the whole length of the board which generates lift and so speed and a gentle vee out of the tail to keep it loose.

Sizing your Crisis Twin is pretty easy, you can go as short as you like as long as you keep the volume a couple of litres up on your everyday driver. If you're considering the Crisis Twin as your first proper surfboard or maybe you want a more forgiving ride, then you'll need to go a little longer to get the required volume.

Jon Pyzel was raised in California, Santa Barbara to be exact and first started surfing while in junior high. Jon soon became hooked on surfing and was riding boards shaped by Carpinteria and Rincon Designs legend Matt Moore. Matt put Jon on his team and always took time to explain the finer points of surfboard shaping and surfboard design with Jon often watching-on as Matt shaped his boards.

Fast forward to 1992 and Jon made a permanent move to Oahu’s North Shore where he picked up work repairing boards at Country Surfboards. Jon then started working with master shaper and North Shore legend Jeff Bushman who used Jon as his back-shaper which proved to be the start of a glossy career in surfboard design and shaping.

The list of team riders speaks for itself with some of the greatest surfers of all-time still choosing Pyzel surfboards to compete at the very highest level and take on the worlds most challenging waves, who isn't familiar with John John's incredible surfing?
