With thankful hearts, we honor God for the life of His servant, Minister Robert W. Jackson, II, who transitioned from labor to reward on March 12, 2025. Robert, affectionately known as Bob, was born to Deacon Robert W. Jackson, Sr. and Deaconess Edith V. Jackson of Louisa, Virginia, on April 2, 1947. Bob was raised in Richmond, Virginia, and graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School. He then attended Virginia State University to further his education.
Bob accepted the Lord in childhood at the age of 10 at Triumphant Baptist Church and fully accepted the Lord with understanding and the filling of the Holy Ghost at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church under Bishop Robert E. Williams, Sr. in 1982. During his time at CTBC, he began running with zeal towards a greater purpose. He joined First Independent Methodist Church in 1985, under God’s divine plan and direction. There he met Crystella B. Jackson, and they were joined in holy matrimony on June 14,1987. In February of 1989, Bob was called into the ministry at Crusade for Christ Christian Church Ministries under the tutelage of Bishop John L. Harris, Sr.,where God filled him all the more, equipped him, endowed him with wisdom, and sent him to preach the good news.
Minister Jackson served in many capacities throughout his church history, including: Chairman of the Deacon Board, Chairman of the Trustee Board, a member of the Ministerial Staff, a Camp leader, and a member of the Male Chorus. As part of the Outreach Ministry and due to his love for children,he served as a minister at the Juvenile Detention Center for 30 years. He preached Jesus and salvation to the saving of hundreds of young men. The youth at the church looked forward to being in his class during Vacation Bible School and when he led Bible study at Camp Crusade. He was a great teacher and always had an incentive that sometimes included money if you paid attention and could answer questions at the end of class. Minister Jackson valued education, and even after attending two seminary programs, he pursued certificate programs designed to build his skills for pastoral counseling, ministry preparation, and juvenile relations. Minister Jackson was faithful to this work until his health began to decline. He continued to serve his beloved pastor, Bishop John L. Harris, Sr., and the church as the worship leader on Sundays. He would share his testimony of the goodness of God and, whatever the affliction was,God delivered and restored him. He would then praise God with a shout!
Minister Jackson worked as an Insurance Agent for more than 40 years, where he could combine his love for people with his ability to sell anything. He worked for a short while at Phillip Morris and realized that he did not enjoy wearing a uniform and working on a machine. He was introduced to sales and insurance and quickly found his niche. He enjoyed the freedom and flexibility, coupled with his passion to help people in need, and let’s not forget he was able to wear a suit, matching tie, and handkerchief every day. Minister Jackson was known for his comedic nature and contagious smile that could light up a room. He was gifted at working with his hands, being able to fix vehicles( just from listening to them), building things, like whole train stations with full landscapes, and anything mechanical. In his younger years, he loved to race cars and as he got older he would collect remote control cars to race with the grandkids. He also loved all kinds of gadgets and wiring all sorts of contraptions in his house and cars. He loved the Baltimore Ravens and would devote his time to coaching from home.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife,Crystella B. Jackson; his daughters, Kristie Langhorne and Urenthia D. Jackson-Cotton (Samuel); his sons, Robert W. Jackson,III (Olga) and Marcus W.
