Whiskeytown Lake has been buzzing with rumors of giant Kokanee salmon pushing 20 inches. We set out on one of the hottest days of the summer to put those stories to the test.

Armed with downriggers, the right gear, and even a drone in the sky, we landed over a dozen Kokanee — including some impressive fish pushing 18 inches. Along the way, we captured incredible drone footage, including JT’s epic Kokanee battle from above.
