This is the work of the Augustinian Recollect Family with riverine and indigenous peoples in the Brazilian Amazon. Through indigenous land demarcations, extractive reserves, and conservation areas, these traditional populations defend their land and way of life, demonstrating that sustainable coexistence between human society and the Amazonian biome is possible.
The Church, through the promotion of strong and well-organized grassroots communities and through the ethical and moral defense of an Integral Ecology, supports and accompanies these peoples.
In the case of the Augustinian Recollects, it has been 100 years of presence and work alongside some of the most isolated peoples in the world, fighting to ensure that they are not excluded and that their voice reaches every corner.
