Описание к видео First Time in 77 Years: US President Threatens to Invade NATO Ally

For the first time in NATO's 77-year history, a sitting U.S. President has publicly threatened military invasion of a treaty ally to seize sovereign territory. Here's what happened behind closed doors—and why 200 Danish combat troops are now deployed in the Arctic.

Based on official government statements, military deployment orders, parliamentary records, and on-the-ground reporting from Nuuk, Greenland.

On January 21, 2026, President Donald Trump told the World Economic Forum in Davos he could take Greenland "by force" using "excessive strength" that would be "frankly, unstoppable." Hours later, he announced a vague "framework of a future deal" with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte—suspending $302 billion in threatened tariffs and pausing military action.

But nothing was resolved. Denmark deployed over 200 elite Arctic combat troops led by General Peter Harling Boysen under a 1952 standing order requiring Danish forces to "immediately take up the fight" against any invasion—including by American forces. Greenland's government distributed civilian guidance recommending five days of emergency food supplies. Danish PM Mette Frederiksen stated that U.S. military action would trigger Article 5, potentially forcing NATO into war against the United States.

The "framework" remains deliberately vague—no confirmed details on sovereignty, military access, or timelines. Sources suggest it resembles Britain's Cyprus arrangement: expanded U.S. military presence without territorial transfer. But Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen confirmed NATO's Rutte "cannot negotiate on behalf of Denmark." Greenlandic officials posted: "Nothing about us without us."

This follows Trump's January 3rd military capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro without Congressional approval—establishing a pattern of unilateral executive military action. The Arctic deployment continues. The tariff suspension is temporary. And Pentagon contingency plans for operations against a NATO ally now exist.

The framework bought time. It did not buy resolution. And the clock is still ticking.
