The Island - circular pond the pros & cons - natural pond with no liner

I often felt as millennial owning my own island in my mid 20's, I'd had made it in life! 🏝️

Like I was really a someone, I'd made it like Johnny Depp... Then I got stung by a bee, rather literally & woke up to smell the bacon. 🐝🥓

After waking up the reality is, it's an island within the pond! 😂

This approximate 95sqm area of land surrounded by a moat of water I've always found a difficult area to work with, originally designed as a home for my family's ducks at the safety from cats & foxes this came to an end when we couldn't find protection from a mink that killed a lot out our birds.

From there I went down the rewilding route form 2020 - 2021, letting nature take over with no interference from myself, and there were positive results, a family of yellow breasted wagtails, butterflies & dragonflies.

Visually deep down I struggled with how it looked, my biodiversity mind frame loved the benefits, but my OCD despite lust for naturalistic planting couldn't handle just how wild it was.

In this video I discuss the pros and cons of the early stages of rewilding, my new plans, and ideas to work in this space - the trial-and-error method will continue, I still don't have a clear vision for this space.
