Komandirskie / Командирские

In 1965, the Vostok Watch Factory was appointed as the official supplier of watches for the Ministry of Defence of the Soviet Union. It was at this time that the Komandirskie (Командирские, meaning "commander's") line of watches were developed and manufactured.

These watches were intended to be more robust than traditional Vostok watches, featuring water-resistant cases and shock-protected movements. Komandirskies are often inscribed with "Заказ мо СССР", meaning "Ordered by the Ministry of Defense of the USSR". These models were sold exclusively through military stores called Voentorg, which were open only to military personnel. However, as the watches sold through Voentorg were not specifically military-issued, these pieces were often bought as souvenirs for friend and family, or traded with foreign military personnel abroad.

The Komandirskie brand is still in production today.
