Every prophetic word must be judged. ⚖️ No matter how powerful the prophet, or the person’s prophetic gift is, as the receiver you must judge it for yourself, remembering that everyone only sees in part and hears in part! See 1 Corinthians 13:9, “For we know in part and we prophesy in part.” And always always always, if it is not released in love FLUSH IT or at best, hold it for future examination because, “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.” 1 Corinthians 13:1.

All prophesy must be encouraging, comforting, and strengthening (1 Corinthians 14:3).

This is where prophetic ministry has often gone wrong—we must learn to discern and judge words before assimilating them into our lives. Once we decide the word is good, we then have a responsibility to act on it.

"Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good." —1 Thessalonians 5:19-21
Here's what this Scripture tells us:
1. Don't quench the Holy Spirit - Stay open to prophetic words
2. Don't forbid prophetic utterances - Don't shut down the gift
3. Test everything - Judge every word against Scripture, against what you know to be true in your own life, and weigh very directional words with others who are mature Christians and have your best interest at heart.
4. Hold onto what is good - Keep what witnesses with your spirit

This is why we must train and grow in our own gifts. "But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil." —Hebrews 5:14

The more we practice discernment, the better we become at recognizing God's voice and testing what we hear.

ALL prophecy must be judged—period!

Once a word is judged to be from the Lord, please do something with it. Don't just receive it and forget it. Activate it. Process it. Steward it.

Here's the truth about your power as the receiver:

You have the authority to judge the word. If you don't agree with it, you have the power to flush it.

It's YOUR agreement that empowers a prophetic word. The receiver is more powerful than the person giving the word.

Don't worry about being cursed or receiving a "bad word"—you're more powerful than that because of Christ in you.

If a word doesn't align with your Christian values or Scripture:
You can question it
Do it in love and kindness
Ask: "Can you share how this word aligns with [Scripture/God's character]?"

Accountability protects both the giver and receiver.

Test everything. Hold onto what's good. Discard what doesn't witness with your spirit.

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God." —1 John 4:1
