On 7/24/22 at approximately 2:08 AM, San Diego Police dispatch received reports of a person shot knocking on multiple doors within the complex. Officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Medics arrived shortly after and were surrounded by party goers and felt unsafe making entry. Officers put out a “shots fired” call and dispatch initially thought there was an Officer Involved Shooting, but the Officer later stated he heard “shots fired” from a nearby Wells Fargo parking lot. Officers requested additional back up for “line control” due to the party goers surrounded the area where the medics were evacuating the victim. Medics were shouting “I’m not going to my rig unless you clear the crowd near the ambulance.” It took Officers a few minutes to disperse the crowd before the victim was able to be loaded into the rig. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. During the investigation, Officers thought there were potentially other victims due to the large amounts of blood around the area. No other victims were located. The cause of the shooting is still under investigation.
