Protesters opposing the state government’s alleged decision to grant permanent residence certificate to non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribes went on a rampage in state capital Itanagar today vandalising the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union office and even attacking the convoy of former chief minister Nabam Tuki while he was returning from the Assembly.
Protesters also pelted stones near the state civil secretariat creating a fear psychosis among the employees.
The protesters among whom were members of the All Law Student’s Union and All Nyishi Students Association took to the streets despite the withdrawal of the 48-hour bandh called by close to 19 organisations over the issue.
