We started Mountaineer RV in June of 2018, and we knew we were headed for growth. Before moving to a second location, we decided to evaluate what capabilities we had within our DMS.
That was an interesting process—but Lightspeed made it easy. They were great to work with and truly helped us grow. It’s very easy to operate as a multi-location business with Lightspeed.
Lightspeed offers a ton of reporting, and all the reports can be customized. You just need to take the time to dig in, find the right data set, and then build and customize your reports to be exactly what you need.
My favorite feature in Lightspeed is definitely the integrated accounting. It leaves minimal room for error in our books. If something is off, I can go into the management activity, dig in further, see what went to the wrong GL account, and fix it with a journal entry. It gives me peace of mind knowing I’m providing very accurate financials.
Lightspeed has really helped us manage our inventory. We have thousands of parts at both locations and are one of the largest stocking parts departments in West Virginia. My counterpart Kim and I work closely—if I have a part they need, she’ll just say, “Hey, can you transfer that to me?” Lightspeed makes that process easy. The purchase order and receiving processes are streamlined, right down to inventory tracking.
One great feature is the mobile app. You can be out on the lot with a customer, enter their name, address, phone number, and email—and as the sales process continues, you can add in the stock number once they land on a camper. It eliminates a lot of unnecessary steps.
Lightspeed has made the sales process so much easier.
Another valuable service we offer is mobile service for our customers. With Lightspeed’s mobile app, I can monitor our technicians in real time—see what they’re clocked into, how they’re doing, or if they’re having trouble. I can reach out to them on the job and ask, “Hey, how’s it going?” It gives me real-time visibility—even if they’re 150 miles away, it feels like they’re right here on our lot.
It’s truly phenomenal—for the price point, the package we received, and the functionality of this DMS system.
