PROTEST ERUPTS IN IMPHAL WEST DISTRICT

The proposed site for Manipur's dream project National Sports University turned into a war-field like situation on Thursday. Infuriated by a report that a meeting held yesterday between Government representatives and representatives of KSO Sadar Hills and Kuki Inpi Manipur agreed to recommend the Central Government to rename the university as National Sports University, Haraothel, Kangpokpi district, a large number of people staged a vehement protest demonstration.Police had to resort to gun shots and tear gas to disperse the mob.
