PASSING OUT PARADE OF THE CADET ADVANCED COURSE FOR SNCOS OF - 2024
After the competition of a successful training package which was organised and held at the NCC Training Centre Rantambe, with the aim of improving the standards of Senior Non- Commissioned Officers of the National Cadet Corps who are eligible to perform duties in the new training year 2025, the Passing Out Parade was held in the morning hours of 18 December 2024 at the Parade Ground of the NCC Training Centre Rantambe, soon after the Guard of Honour accorded to Director NCC on his official visit to the NCC Training Centre Rantambe after being promoted to the rank of Major General.

Maj Gen Sudantha Fonseka USP psc Director NCC graced this ceremonial event of the Senior Non Commissioned Officers of the National Cadet Corps as the Chief Guest, adding glamour and pride to this memorable day.

The Parade clad in combat dress gave a smart and proud look which made all onlookers proud of their youngsters. Addressing the Parade the Chief Guest gave some take home messages to these Senior Non- Commissioned Officers.

He requested to become good guides and leaders to Cadets in schools by helping them to function their Platoons well. Going down the memory lane he fondly remembered his days as a school Cadet in early 80s and how much that experience was useful for him to climb the ladder of success and become a military leader in the Army.

He requested Senior Non- Commissioned Officers who perform duties as Drill Instructors to help the respective Battalion to shape up the Cadets in schools. He pointed out the difficulty of becoming a Senior Non- Commissioned Officer in the Cadet Corps with the impending competition and the privilege of holding such positions during the school days of a student.

Flashing back in to his Cadetship at school, he fondly remembered his then Senior Non- Commissioned Officers and how they took cared of Juniors, setting examples in their out look as well as leadership qualities and discipline and performing Corps duties in the absence of Officers sometimes. Also thankfully he mentioned how his grooming as a school cadet helped him to beome the winner of the Sword of Honour in his intake at Sri Lanka Military Academy and subsequently a career officer in the Army. He conveyed his happiness to stand in front of all Cadets in Sri Lanka today as the Director NCC, setting an example and giving a target to future leaders.

He aired his wish to include Admin and Logestic matters also in to the course content of the Advanced Course next year onwards, with the aim of giving SNCOS opportunities to deal with aforementioned areas too.

He requested all SNCOS to be perfect persons making use of the training they obtained from the NCC and wished them all the best and good luck in the future endeavours. He also thanked all Officers who took much pains to make this training session and the Passing Out Parade a success and Principals, Teachers and Parents for the trust and bond they placed on the NCC which eventually helped groom some thousands of further leaders and disciplined citizens to nation.

Lt Col AMD Adikari Commanded this Passing out Parade and Maj Prabath Samasekara performed as the Second in Command.
