Good day to all! And Happy New Year 2022!
The previous SimpleCase project became my main work computer. The air cooling there is thought out and the temperatures are quite low, the only source of noise there was a video card with turbine-type cooling. Experiments with liquid cooling of the graphics card and processor have yielded sufficiently low temperatures and a very low noise level. It was decided to make a tower-type housing with liquid cooling in order to get rid of noise and free up the desktop as much as possible. The design had to be quite strict, without excessive details, all connections had to be hidden from the eyes - therefore, the assembly on the rivets was immediately dismissed and it was decided to make a welded body.
The prototype was developed without components on hand, according to drawings and photos from the Internet. In the front part of the case there is an EKWB EK-Quantum Volume FLT 360 D-RGB tank (350 ml, 360 mm), on the back wall there is a radiator combined with a pump, Barrow DARIDP-30. Fans that blow through the radiator should also take warm air from the power supply and motherboard, video card. There is a place for a 120mm fan from below, the air flow from which is directed to the video card in order to cool its backup and supply cold air to the power supply.
While the drawings were being drawn, the prices of components, in particular for video cards, flew into the sky! Fortunately, the guys from Cooler Master, INNO3D and Transcend were able to provide the bulk of such expensive components. For which I thank them very much! Without kind people, my projects would not have come to life, but would have remained on paper and in my head!
So, accessories:
The Cooler Master V850 SFX Gold 850W power supply is a miniature high-power power supply with a GOLD certificate and modular cables.
Cooler Master MasterFan MF120 Prismatic fans with ARGB backlight, air flow up to 93.5 cubic meters per hour, noise level - from 8 to 27 dBA.
SSD NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD Transcend MTE220S 1 TB with DRAM cache, TBW 2200 terabytes and excellent speeds (read 3500 MB/s, write 3200 MB/s)
2.5-inch SSD drives with SATA III 6 Gbit/s Transcend SSD230S 512 GB with a five-year warranty and DRAM cache.
DDR4-3200 Transcend JM3200HLE-16G RAM – 2 modules of 16Gb and 3200 MHz frequency.
The most expensive component in the assembly is the INNO3D GeForce RTX 3080 iChill X3 (LHR) graphics card. I could only dream of such a thing! A video card that can pull on ultra graphics settings all the best games at the moment! Moreover, there is a factory modification of the INNO3D RTX 3080 iChill FROSTBITE graphics card with a block from Alphacool, which is on sale separately.
But back to the case. The material is familiar to me aluminum 2 mm thick, light weight, ease of processing on the one hand and the complexity of welding on the other. The prototype was made quickly enough, although the cost of laser cutting was quite high. After completion, I sent new drawings for cutting, where they rolled out the bill beyond the reasonable. I never received the requested cost calculation and had to look for another company for laser cutting. There is no silver lining - new parts were cut to me with higher quality, which practically did not need further processing, and even for a price almost 3 times less!! So people lose customers because of greed…
The prototype played a role – in the subsequent drawings were redesigned for the convenience of welding parts. 2mm aluminum is quite thin and very heat-intensive, in some places it was necessary to attach an additional radiator so that the edges of the parts would not burn through during welding. He was engaged in flexible work himself, unfortunately, the existing sheet bending does not have segment beams and imposes a number of restrictions on manufacturing. But a relative helped me with welding and, although it was the first experience of such work for him, he had already filled his hand for welding the final case)
To clean the welds, I used a milling cutter and a dremel with 1-inch grinding nozzles - it turned out very neatly and the seams can only be seen at a certain angle.

The year turned out to be difficult, restrictions due to COVID19 and diseases repeatedly disrupted deadlines. He himself has been on sick leave twice, although he had never been ill for many years before. The fact that I was at home in bed for a while was glad to have a cat who treated me with her purring.
The head of the CatControlDepartment not only monitored the quality of the project, but also my health, monitored that I also spent time and rest, sometimes even limiting access to the computer.
